I was having issues with the powersave mode on my desktop and decided to just turn it off. I am running Windows 8.1 so the utility that TP-Link released wasn't working. Piecing together what I read on this thread, here is how I was able to do it:
1. Download and install WinPcap from here: http://www.winpcap.org/install/default.htm
2. Download and extract the SwitchPowerSave Tool from here (thanks Peter!): http://forum.tp-link.com/showthread....s®ion=china
With WinPcap installed, there shouldn't be an "Invalid DLL File" error and the tool should work. I'm assuming the powersave was turned off because the tool said it was. I'll update this post if this didn't work.
The power save disable tool works across the range, I had to use it on my AV600 adapters for the same problem.
Hello, everybody, the SwitchPowerSaveTool is available here.
It can be running on WinXP/Vista/7/8.
It can be used to turn off power saving and it is proper for all TP-LINK powerline adapters which supports power-saving mode. It works quite good in my case.
Link doesn't seem to work
Hi, this link doesn't seem to work any more. In fact, there doesn't even seem to be a section in the download centre for TL-PA511; something for all the other powerline adapters but not this one. Does anyone have a copy of the tool please?

Worked with latest version of PCAP
I had to install v 4.1.3 of PCAP to disable sleep from my Win8.1 box, the version that comes with the zip file is 4.1.2
Install Pcap 4.1.3 from here: http://www.winpcap.org/install/default.htm
Run the EXE from this zip file: http://www.tp-link.com/en/handlers/download.ashx?resourceid=13156
Set to disable
I want to disable powersave feature for TL-PA8010P but this software doesn't seem to work. Error message: "The local device hasn't been connected!", but at the same time the Powerline Utility tool works fine.
I tried using the newer PLCOperApi.dll that came with the Utility from CD. Then I get no error message on startup but when I try to change powersave feature the error "Set failed!" shows instead.
Using win10 and Pcap 4.1.3.
Is there a way to use this tool with a mac?? I have my HP printer connected to the power line adapter and whenever it goes to sleep, I can't print again unless I restart the printer...
How to get powersave disabling tool?
Above links are throwing 404
Thanks a lot!

One reason people buy these units are for wifi deadspots... so running up two flights of stairs and back resetting power buttons is an annoyance.

I'm connecting wirelessly through the laptop, and the utility recognizes the units in place. and get the "The local device..." message.
After wasting three hours on a Sunday tracking down all these threads on forums and other sites, I reset one unit by unplugging it for a minute and that seemed to do the trick of getting it back online. I'm still not able to use the utility. If I could disable sleep mode, that'd be my first choice. I'm hoping someone can give me and zwmp4 some guidance as to how to not get the "The local device hasn't been connected!" message.
Thanks - Mark
Yeah, not sure why TP-link cannot add storable Disable powersave in basic configuration.
