I want to install the R600VPN in my home so I can practice on it. I have Xfinity Internet and my modem model is MG7315. Do I just plug the R600VPN to one of the LAN ports of the modem?

Yes, you need to just connect the R600 WAN port to one of the LAN in MG7315. So that, it will get IP from MG7315. Please remember the LAN of the R600VPN is 192.168.0.0 as default.
You need to avoid the conflict.
